Supported learning: future growth

1 min read
Education Growth

In January, when another lockdown was announced, we felt we wanted to look at supporting the areas of the community, that were likely to face a long-term severe impact, so when we became aware of an appeal that Fakenham Junior School had launched, seeking support for Children who were struggling with the effects of school closure and online learning requirements, we stepped in to help.

We worked closely with the school, facilitating the provision of 40 Chromebooks to enable families to support their children in accessing remote learning, without the need to share devices with other siblings, ensuring that the laptops provided were sent to those most in need, in line with The Building Norfolk ethos, of Education and Growth.

Moving forward, with Children now back at school the Chromebooks will be used to continue to support children and families to access normal homework, ensuring that all Children have an equal opportunity to thrive and that impact from the pandemic, on their learning ability is minimalised, perfectly encapsulating the schools ethos of enabling children to;

‘Be the best YOU can be’

Head teacher at the school, Adam Mason said:

‘The generous donation of laptops from Grocott & Murfit means that moving forward all children will have access to suitable websites and learning in all subjects, from maths to history, literacy to music. This is the ‘silver lining’ legacy of the pandemic which will help us build back better'.

'Thank you to the Building Norfolk programme, from the whole Fakenham Junior School Community'.
