We are delighted to have been chosen as winner within the category 'Residential Build Norfolk' for this specialist project in North Norfolk, which is currently in build.
The project utilises a number of sustainable solutions, to minimise the impact on the environment. The choice of materials lend themselves to constructing a highly insulated external skin for the building. This combined with its orientation with respect to the sun, means the building can harvest solar energy’ and be highly energy efficient. PV panels over the bedroom wing will provide electricity for the building, heating by means of air source heat pump technology and a green sedum roof.
The timber frame was fabricated off-site in kit form, providing higher levels of accuracy (key for air-tightness) and minimising time on site for erecting the timber frame, whilst the foundations consist of an insulated slab construction, consisting of insulating components that not only insulate the slab but are the formwork to the concrete slab. This type of construction minimises thermal bridging at edge details and reduces the amount of concrete used in comparison to more traditional forms of foundation construction.
