In a project spanning 4 years, several design variations and a prestigious award win, this, our most recently completed project, situated on the edge of a small North Norfolk village, is a discreet, sustainable new build, perfectly combining the very latest sustainable technologies with traditional build materials and techniques, that blend seamlessly into the natural surrounds.
Designed to an incredibly high specification, by Hudson Architects of Norwich, this is a superbly stunning home, which has been officially classed as the best residential build in the county by the UK Property awards - achieving 5-star status from the panel of esteemed judges.
'We believe we have an exceptional team - the best in the County, so we are delighted that their hard work has been recognised by such a prestigious award'
Jody Murfit
The property is orientated to make the most of the southerly aspect, with bedrooms situated in the east wing to take advantage of the morning sun.

All the main living spaces and bedrooms have the sun throughout the day, with large full length glass windows in the living space, providing the occupants with unrestricted views out across the surrounding countryside, whilst the study, snug and living space also enjoy the sun in the early evening.
The house has been positioned so as to keep the outside terrace areas out of the shade of the many trees on site, utilising its orientation to harness solar energy and with a highly insulated external skin to drive energy efficiency.

Corten Steel, has been used throughout and as a continuation from outside to the inside providing contrast to the colour and texture of the flint-work, which adds a natural, visually stunning frame to the light filled contemporary open plan kitchen.

The choice of materials used throughout lend themselves a highly insulated external skin for the building. This combined with the orientation with respect to the sun, means the building can harvest solar energy’ and be highly energy efficient.
PV panels over the bedroom wing provide electricity for the building, heating by means of air source heat pump technology, whilst the green sedum roof, offers enhanced energy conservation, improved air quality and a natural habitat for the rich array of local wildlife.

What our customers say
We instructed Grocott and Murfit as the main contractor on our new build project in 2019. Jody and Daniel are very client focused and clearly have a passion for building beautiful, innovative buildings. Their enthusiasm for our project was evident with Daniel at the tender stage and has continued with Jody throughout the build process. Their ethos permeates down through to their staff.
G&M consistently show willingness to work to the highest specification working with award winning, demanding architects. The workmanship, without exception, is phenomenal. It is clear that each of the craftsmen takes great pride in their finished work. Workers are always polite, respectful and well mannered. The vertical integration of the company including Arcadia Home & Living is very helpful in achieving a high quality end product, this was even more apparent in a difficult year due to a world wide pandemic. From design to build nothing was ever a problem to implement. Their experience was invaluable when embedding the latest modern technology throughout the build. Working with our various engineers they could offer up practical implementation solutions, improvements or alternatives.
Post completion their munificent care and prompt service made the bedding in process of a new innovative house a joy. Given everything we have seen, it does not surprise us that G&M won best residential build for Norfolk for our house. We would eagerly work with the G&M again and highly recommend them.
